For Employers

Ms. Glickson works with employers of all sizes, from national companies with offices in multiple states, to small businesses, including medical practices, private educational institutions, mortgage companies, restaurants, IT consulting firms, and hospitality companies, to name a few.

As a former Assistant U.S. Attorney and litigator trained by large, prominent law firms, Ms. Glickson offers employers the combination of experience, skill, and efficiency that suits their needs.  Ms. Glickson has a track record of success with complex cases and a reputation for implementing smart, cost-effective strategies to defend employment issues with skill and success.  Ms. Glickson believes in evaluating employment matters at the early stages.  Employers need to know whether a situation has the potential to expose them to significant liability, or whether the circumstances at issue are more innocuous.

Personnel matters that are not handled skillfully at the early stages can grow into larger problems, monopolizing the time and resources of a business unnecessarily.  Ms. Glickson will work with your business so that budding employment disputes are addressed appropriately. Whether it's a termination, a complaint of discrimination, or a wage issues, carefully addressing employment matters at the early stages can save a business from incurring considerable costs down the road.

Employment Advice and Counsel

Employment matters arise in any business on a regular basis.  Employers can often benefit from the guidance of an experienced employment attorney to help them apply the myriad state and federal workplace laws.  Ms. Glickson provides her clients with responsive, thoughtful guidance on any employment matter that affects her clients' business.

Ms. Glickson also helps businesses minimize their legal exposure by creating well-crafted employment-related documents for her clients, such as employment agreements, consulting (independent contractor) agreements, offer letters, termination letters, severance agreements, employee handbooks, etc.

Ms. Glickson typically assists her clients by providing services such as the following:

  • advice and counsel prior to hiring or firing an employee;
  • advice and counsel concerning compensation;
  • advice regarding extending an offer of employment to an individual who may be bound by a restrictive covenant;
  • drafting restrictive covenants that make sense for the business (including non-compete agreements, non-solicitation agreements, and confidentiality agreements);
  • drafting employee handbooks, individual policies, and codes of conduct;
  • drafting employment agreements and severance agreements;
  • drafting offer letters and termination letters;
  • drafting disciplinary documents, including performance improvement plans;
  • conducting discreet workplace investigations regarding discrimination, harassment, and other suspected employee misconduct.

Litigation

Litigation costs can get out of hand in the blink of an eye.  Employers who want to defend against claims often find themselves having invested far more in litigating a case than the case is worth, with no end in sight.

Ms. Glickson's approach is distinguished from that of other attorneys by her practice of early evaluation and cost-benefit analysis of cases.  Ms. Glickson believes in the importance of developing a deliberate plan for litigation. For example, some cases should be settled early, before discovery.  Some cases have a high likelihood of being won with a motion filed with the Court. Each case is different, but most cases are capable of being assessed at the early stages. By being proactive in this way, Ms. Glickson helps her clients to understand the purpose and risks of the steps taken within the case.

Ms. Glickson represents employers in all kinds of employment cases, including:

  • Discrimination;
  • Sexual Harassment and other forms of harassment;
  • Retaliation;
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) claims and claims of failure to accommodate;
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) claims;
  • State and Federal wage hour cases;
  • Whistleblower;
  • Breach of contract;
  • Non-compete litigation;
  • Litigation of employment matters related to the practice of medicine;
  • Defamation claims by a former employee;
  • Claims of negligent retention, negligent supervision, and negligent hiring.
